This guy attempted to drive his Tesla Plaid underwater but the outcome of this scenario may surprise you.

When you think of a EV driving through a body of water, you likely aren’t imagining a happy ending.

Driving any car through water is a risky move, so it’s a wonder that this YouTuber gave it a go.

However, this Tesla Model S Plaid’s condition after a dip may shock you.

Why did this YouTuber decide to take his Tesla Plaid for a swim?

Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time this YouTuber had attempted to create a ‘Tesla Submarine’.

Chet, the host of YouTube channel Chillin’ with Chet, had previously given it a go in 2021 but to no success.

On the second attempt, he wanted to make sure it was a triumph.

Tons of additional weight was added to the Tesla and a makeshift pond was created in a ditch, complete with a little rubber duck floating on the top.

By the time Chet finished filling out his car, it weighed the same as the truck pouring out the water.

In the end, the car was two times over the 5,600Ibs weight limit.

It was time for the moment of truth.

Would Tesla Submarine 2.0 prove to be a success?

Considering how many cool submarines there are – like this one designed after a shark – is it time for Tesla to join the underwater market?

Taking to the waters again

The first attempt to go in led to Chet calling on his team to pull him out again as some water was entering the vehicle.

It was decided that they would allow the front to flood on the second attempt.

As the car descended beneath the water, Chet’s excitement and nerves were palpable.

Through the front window, he could barely see above the water.

But despite the odds, it was a roaring success and the Tesla pulled out the other side of the man-made lake.

How had it fared after this risky experiment?

Remarkably well – once all the water was drained and cleaned up.

Making reference to people who warned him against the stunt, he said: “It’s back to the way I got it! Guys, chill out!

“Good as new! She’s good to go, man.”

Resetting the car afterwards proved to be tricky, leading him to call up a support worker.

Whilst speaking to a support worker, Chet remarked: “I feel like Elon’s going to be really happy with me or really p***ed.”

Given that Elon has given props to creative endeavors done with Tesla cars in the past, the jury is out on how he’d react.

By the next day, everything seemed to be running smoothly again in the car.
