A field in Florida has become a holding spot for Tesla to store unsold cars.

You could expect to see a Tesla Model 3 Highland in many places, but a field in northern Florida is likely not one of them.

So, you can imagine the shock of one man who came across them and went to the internet for answers.

The Teslas that haven’t found a home yet

A photo of the field was shared to Reddit by user LSDBunnos.

Local Redditors confirmed that the field was being used as an overflow for unsold Teslas by the Tampa dealership.

However, other Tesla stores within the state have also been making use of it.

The Drive reached out to the Tampa store, who confirmed that it was an overflow lot for delivery centers.

These cars are not in bad shape, as we often see vehicles left in fields – like these Japanese cars left in a rice field.

In fact, all the Model 3 Highlands appear to be brand-new.

According to LSDBunnos, they have a manufacturing date of April 2024.

So any Floridians buying a car may soon be receiving one of these field dwellers.

What does this mean for Tesla?

Although the cars look to be in fine shape from a glance, there is a risk of damage to the underbody.

As The Drive notes, wildlife in Florida could prove to be treacherous for the car in tall grass.

The southern state is known for its wildlife, and skunks, bugs and snakes can all pose a risk to the car.

Whether that’s through climbing inside crevices or biting on the exterior, there’s no guarantee that the fields will be the best home for these Teslas.

Tampa is also known for heavy rain and this could turn the land in a muddy mess.

The Tesla store in Tampa asserted to The Drive that all cars show up washed, cleaned and prepped by delivery centers.

What’s worth clarifying is that the Highlands being sat in a field is not an indication that they’re doing poorly sales wise.

Dealerships will often need to store unsold cars to keep them on hold.

The choice of location is the unconventional part, hence why it garnered so much attention on Reddit.
