Two classic American supercars were discovered sitting in a Texas junkyard.
Check out this pair of late ’70s performance cars — a 1977 Chevy Monza Mirage and a 1978 Plymouth Fury Police Pursuit.
Found at CTC Auto Ranch in Denton, Texas, these two muscle cars represent the 1970s high-performance car scene.
This is quite interesting since the 70s was the era of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.

American supercars sitting in a Texas junkyard
In the 70s, the EPA and politicians told automakers how to build new cars based upon their standards and specifications.
Of course, that didn’t lead to many good results.
However, there were exceptions like the 1977 Chevy Monza Mirage and a 1978 Plymouth Fury Police Pursuit.
These two American supercars built quite a reputation for themselves.
The Chevy Monza Mirage was one of Detroit’s most exaggerated ‘sticker supercars’ of all time.
Unfortunately, these two models are now collecting dust in a Texas Junkyard with hundreds of muscle cars.

Steve Magnante from Junkyard Gold Show checked out these two abandoned American supercars on the MotorTrend YouTube Channel.
He reminisced about the good old days when he was 13 years old, and the Chevy Monza Mirage had just come out.
The car featured an LG4 305 2-barrel small-block V8 that produced 145 horsepower, which was a lot at the time.
Plus, the Mirage was also a limited edition car with only 4097 of these cars ever being built.
On the other hand, we have the 1978 Plymouth Fury Police Pursuit.
Unfortunately, the car was in a pretty bad state, but we have also seen a rusted Plymouth Fury get rescued, and we hope a similar fate awaits this car.

Maybe the 70s wasn’t such a barren period, after all?
