An urban explorer checking out an abandoned old house in Ohio came across this great-condition first-generation Ford Thunderbird.

The beautiful Thunderbird was launched by Ford back in 1959 as a response to the newly launched Chevrolet Corvette.

Commonly known as the T-Bird, the car was introduced as a two-seater convertible before later being offered in a bunch of different body styles.

Across its lengthy production run, Ford produced a whopping 4.4 million T-Birds – including this first-generation example found in an abandoned home in the US.

The abandoned property was like a time capsule

While many barn finds are found in less-than-perfect condition, such as this poor 1971 Dodge Challenger that had been parked for 40 years, or this 1959 Chevrolet Apache that was in a pretty bad way

Fortunately, that wasn’t the case for this first-generation Ford Thunderbird that looked to be in great condition.

Urban explorer ‘Big D’ from the Exploring with BigD YouTube channel, found the Thunderbird while checking out an abandoned home that he thinks once belonged to a former Marine or police officer.

The time capsule home looked like it hadn’t been lived in for years but was still absolutely packed with furniture and personal belongings including dozens of family photographs.

There was a first-generation Ford Thunderbird in the garage

Meanwhile, in the garage, there was a Ford Thunderbird that had been parked up for several years, judging by the thick layer of dust on top of it.

The stunning vintage vehicle still looked to be in tip-top condition – aside from the dirt and a missing turn signal – with red paintwork and a complementary two-tone red and white interior.

It’s hard to tell from the clip whether its a 1955 or 1956 model as the vehicles looked almost exactly the same – but whichever it is, it would have left the Ford factory with a V8.

The dusty garage is also home to a Mercedes-Benz SL-Class – but again, the cameraman didn’t reveal the specific details such as the model year or what was beneath the hood.

There’s no knowing how long the cars have been parked or if the engine still turns, but wouldn’t it be great to see this classic restored?
