Rapper Drake has spent more than $2 million on a pair of custom-made solid gold Jordan sneakers.

It’s a mind-boggling amount of cash to splash on a pair of sneakers but with a net worth of $260 million, Drake can certainly afford it.

The Canadian rapper actually teamed up with conceptual artist Matt Senna to create the shoes.

Based on a pair of Air Jordan 10s, the shoes aren’t just gold-plated, they are made from actual 24-carat solid gold.

Unfortunately due to the hard gold material, the shoes aren’t really wearable.

In theory Drake could attempt to wear them, but we can only imagine how uncomfortable it would be.

Especially considering each shoe weighs a whopping 100 pounds (45 kg).

Drake gold Jordans price

Drake apparently spent $2.1 million on these shoes but, as crazy as it sounds, the price actually made a lot of sense.

Gold was valued at around $1,100 an ounce when the rapper commissioned the shoes.

It is worth $1,929 per ounce at the time of writing.

So the shoes turned out to be quite a good investment.

About Drake’s OVO brand

OVO actually stands for October’s Very Own, a reference to Drake’s birth date on October, 24.

In addition to his OVO clothing brand, Drake also founded his own record label OVO Sound in 2012.

Since then, the Canadian rapper and R & B singer has released most of his work through his record label, including his latest album titled ‘Her Loss’.

OVO Sound also produced the 2016 album ‘Views’, which is still Drake’s best-selling studio album with over seven million units sold.
