A YouTuber and classic muscle car enthusiast was close to buying a 1965 Ford Galaxie from Facebook Marketplace before a nightmare final check revealed a deal breaker.
Caecey Killian of Street Muscle Magazine went to inspect the Galaxie, and despite it clearly having some rusting issues, a lowball offer secured it at a good price.
A test drive of the classic Ford went well, and Killian was almost ready to buy the car.
However, one final check of the Galaxie showed an issue that put the deal in the trash can.

A lowball offer secured the 1965 Ford Galaxie
After talking to the seller, Killian got some more pictures of the car and submitted a lowball offer for it.
To his delight, the offer to the Marketplace seller was accepted, so he headed down to the car’s location to give it a once-over.
The first checks involved looking for severe rust, i.e., frame rust or ‘excessive hard-to-fix spots of rust’ and taking the car for a test drive.
Killian said that if any of those rust issues emerged, the deal was off.
The test drive appeared to go smoothly, as shown in the YouTube video.
One problem did arise when the Ford was put into reverse.
After moving a few feet, the engine on the Galaxie cut out.
This wasn’t a big problem for him though. The starter was right next to the exhaust manifold, causing it to overheat and need time to cool down.
Hearing the car start up also revealed that it needed some engine work.
A severe rusting problem scuppers the deal
The engine issues were not what ruined the deal with this Galaxie.
Upon investigating the fuel cell in the trunk, Killian and his team were impressed with the installation but wondered why it was in there.
Looking around the factory fuel tank, there were no obvious bad patches.
However, the YouTuber and writer noticed chunks of rusted metal sitting on the frame.

Killian touched the frame of the Galaxie, and his finger went straight through it.
That was a deal breaker, as Killian did not want to deal with serious frame repairs.
He simply drove the car back to the seller, shook his hand, and drove away.
That is how this Facebook Marketplace Ford Galaxie find could have turned into a nightmare.
