In waters dominated by business sharks and their luxury nine-figure super boats, this plucky and iconic 24-year-old American yacht has been given a new lease of life after a makeover attracted a $5 million fee.

Steeped with 162 years of history and serving as the backbone in hand-crafted cruisers, Burger Boat sails rather under the radar.

Despite being dwarfed in the fish-eat-fish world, the name has a great reputation, and its boats are recognized well among sea-dwellers.

One 24-year-old Burger Boat has now brought joy to one person as they bought one of the iconic vessels for $5 million.

Superyachts are reaching an all-time peak of creativity. But that doesn’t mean the smaller and pluckier luxury boats are any less incredible.

This particular 105-foot boat named Sharon Lee – previously Elizabeth R – has been undergoing a renovation in the last six years in a bid to bring it into the 2020s.

The fittings include two Yamaha VX Delux three-person jet skis, nine TVs, a wine refrigerator, and a custom-made glass dining table.

Having had an interior renovation in 2018, it was bought a year later, with plans to upgrade it further and flip it.

The American yacht’s beyond-the-eye features were given a lot of love, including the water heaters, stabilizers, and bow thruster.

It also had a full paint job, which involved a vigorous soda blasting of the aluminum hull.

You could scarcely find a better-preserved yacht than Sharon Lee.

Once on the market for $7 million, the owners finally accepted a bid of $5.45 million, which makes it quite the bargain for a new owner.

A true American yacht stalwart

Burger Boat is the second-oldest yacht manufacturer in America, dating back to the Civil War.

However, Sharon Lee was made in 2001 and was the first Burger to include raised panels throughout.

The modern upgrades really tie this yacht into the luxury department, while maintaining the class of an older lady.

While Sharon Lee might not quite live up to the sheer size and quality of Project Ali Baba – the biggest superyacht in the world owned by Google Co-Founder – it’s still an impressive vessel

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all.
