You can now pre-order the Alef flying car for just $150

Alef Aeronautics is now accepting pre-orders for its flying car. 

The Alef Model A went viral after it became the first flying car to be granted approval by the U.S. government. 

That was two weeks ago, and now the creators are already accepting orders for the car, which it says will be priced around $300,000.

The start-up says it’s already received $250 million worth of pre-orders for its upcoming Model A.

Pre-orders are open on its website, and it costs just USD $150 to order it, or $1,500 to join the ‘priority queue’.

Once you’ve pre-ordered your flying car, Alef says you’ll be able to configure it closer to production.

The Alef Model A was awarded a Special Airworthiness Certification by the U.S Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at the beginning of July.

The company said the flying car was the first of its kind to get that kind of certification.

“It allows us to move closer to bringing people an environmentally friendly and faster commute, saving individuals and companies hours each week,” Alef CEO Jim Dukhovny said.

The fully-electric flying car will have a range of about 200 miles (321 kilometers) on the road, and 110 miles (177 kilometers) in the air.

It will have a top speed of about 35 mph (56 km/h) and will be able to seat two passengers.

According to the creators, the car will have vertical take-off and landing capabilities, meaning it can take off from pretty much anywhere.

Alef Aeronautics expects to deliver its first flying car to a paying customer in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Shortly after the Alef flying car was granted FAA approval, a rival was hot on its tail.

Just a week later, California start-up Aska announced its A5 flying car was also granted official approval by the U.S Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The first working prototype was finished in December 2022 and is now undergoing flight testing around its home city of Palo Alto in California.
