A 220-foot long fully-electric boat could become the world’s first-ever fuel-free superyacht.
With the world looking for more sustainable ways to create power, we’ve seen massive shifts in the performance and availability of EVs.
So it was only a matter of time before someone designed an all-electric superyacht, wasn’t it?

What’s it like onboard the superyacht?
Step up: Silencieux – a 60-meter-long, zero-emission superyacht complete with folding balconies, a sauna, and a fitness room.
The concept comes from Turkish architect and designer, Baran Akalin, who says the boat has a whopping 14,000 nautical mile range from the 11.4MW Battery power, which is rechargeable underway due to the boat’s H2 generators.
Akalin says the boat can ‘stay up to three weeks at the anchor in electric mode’.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a superyacht if it didn’t come with all the bells and whistles and Silencieux certainly delivers on that front.
The whole vessel is incredibly roomy, with a main saloon measuring just shy of 200 square meters, alongside an owner’s saloon spread across 87 square meters and an 80-square-meter owner cabin, which has its own private bathroom and dressing room.
There’s also a large galley, fitness room, and sauna as well as enough guest cabins to sleep 12 people.
Heading up a level, Akalin’s site explains: “When we move to the top level ‘Flybridge Deck’, a very wide field with almost 360-degree viewing angle welcomes us.
“On this area, she has a little taste of every pleasure area in Silencieux. There is a lounge on the bow, a small bar in the middle, and a mid-size saloon facing the stern with a mid-size terrace.
“With all these functions, Silencieux allows you to have a great time in far and cold lands.”
But, if you think that’s big then check out this time-lapse showing Jacksonville Jaguars owner’s 400-foot-long superyacht being built from scratch.
And there’s always room for growth as this decade-old Turkish superyacht proves with its new 40-foot extension.
There’s already an interested buyer
Although still just a concept, Alakin says the boat has already caught the attention of a prospective buyer and will be built by a ‘new Italian brand’ if sold.
He told Robb Report: “The potential owner wants to see the system working first, so a one-on-one demo is currently being prepared. “If the system works completely, the first order will be received.”
This isn’t the first electric superyacht concept we’ve seen.
British start-up and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) manufacturer, VRCO, teamed up with Austrian-based Silent Yachts to announce the conceptual pairing of an eVTOL flying car and electric superyacht.
The cleaner, greener future of yachting could be just around the corner.
