Watching a flight landing is nothing uncommon, but two flights landing at the same time, parallel to each other is something that would surely fascinate aviation lovers.

American Airbus A321 and Boeing 737 parallel landing
This captivating moment was captured at San Francisco Airport in 2022 and shared on the official YouTube channel of NickFlightX.
Unlike the usual singular landing, this video features two massive planes approaching the runway side by side.
As the flights descend in perfect sync, it feels like there’s just one plane with its reflection in the mirror.
That’s also because of the striking similarities between the plane’s shape, color, and design.
Well, that’s because both flights belong to American Airlines.
The tail design featuring the American flag, adds to the illusion of seeing a double image of the same aircraft.
The moment even sparked a playful comparison, making it seem like the two planes were racing down the runway.
Nick, the creator of the video, was live with his special guest, Christie, during the recording.
Although Christie’s reaction to the parallel landing was described as priceless, it unfortunately couldn’t be captured on film.
This exceptional event stands out among many memorable aviation moments, such as the powerful Boeing 747 takeoff at Sint Maarten.
Comparing the two flights
While both the Airbus A321 and Boeing 737 are popular choices for airlines, they differ in several key aspects.
The Airbus A321 has a maximum cruising speed of more than 470 knots and can carry up to 240 passengers, powered by two CFM International CFM56 engines.
In contrast, the Boeing 737, depending on the model, typically has a cruising speed of about 450 knots and seats up to 230 passengers, with options including the CFM56 or the newer LEAP-1B engines.
This parallel landing at San Francisco Airport also recalls another incredible moment – a parallel takeoff of an A321 and Boeing 737, from the same runway.
