This little robot is causing quite a bit of controversy online.

Called Turf Tank, it’s a GPS-guided robot that expertly paints lines on sports fields.

So, what’s all the fuss about?

The robot paints lines on pitches in a fraction of the time it takes humans to do it.

Football, baseball and softball fields are said to take as little as 30 minutes to do versus the 2-3 hours that it would usually take a person.

In fact, it can do a massive American football field in less than three hours.

That’s way faster than the eight hours it would take its two-legged counterpart.

Footage of the Turf Tank has amazed some viewers, but concerned others.

When Supercar Blondie shared the video to Facebook, it racked up millions of views and thousands of comments.

“That’s my old groundsman job replaced, unbelievable, glad I’m retired,” one man said.

“This is going to remove so many jobs,” another said.

“Make someone’s job easier? More likely that person’s job has just been replaced,” said a third.

Turf Tank told Supercar Blondie its mission was to “help turf managers make their lives easier”.

The company said the industry could often be affected by labor shortages, which is why they made the robot an “efficient tool” that can “mark out fields faster”.

It said it was a big misconception that the robot would “replace people”.

Instead, it said the technology provided more opportunities, and the efficiency allowed turf managers to take on more clients.

“Let’s face it, robots are here to stay. They’re being implemented more and more,” Turf Tanks told supercarblondie.com.

While most were concerned about the little robot, other Facebook users were massive supporters.

“Nobody is willing to line the fields anymore,” one said.

“This would be great for the club teams that don’t have towns lining fields for them.”
