The BMW M8 Competition and Tesla Model 3 Performance have gone head-to-head in a drag race.
The race took place on a drag strip on Island Dragway in New Jersey.
With both cars known for their impressive speed and power, it was uncertain who would come out on top.
However, there was one clear winner, even though the competition was neck and neck.

BMW M8 vs. Tesla Model 3
As the first drag race between the two speed demons took place, both cars had an impressive start.
This first race saw the Tesla Model 3 Performance win by a small margin, finishing in 11.47 seconds, while the BMW M8 took 11.86 seconds.
The race was documented on YouTube by ImportRace.
This was enough for the Tesla to claim victory but seems like the M8 driver wasn’t ready to give up just yet.
In the second round, the Tesla crossed the finish line at 11.59 seconds, while the BMW M8 took 11.66 seconds.
But the validity of this second race was called into question when the Tesla driver took off a fraction too early.
So, both cars hit the track for a third and final time.
There was a winner
The third race was the most exciting by far.
The Tesla driver had an incredible reaction time of just 0.69 seconds, while the BMW driver struggled with a slower time.
The BMW M8 had a slightly better elapsed time, running 11.52 seconds, but the Tesla Model 3 crossed the finish line first, despite finishing with an elapsed time of 11.59 seconds, due to its faster reaction time.
This shows how the Tesla’s quick start gave it the advantage, even though the BMW’s overall time was slightly quicker.
Tesla winning the race wasn’t a surprise.
Tesla cars are known for their speed off the line, and the Tesla Model S Plaid even took on the supercharged Corvette ZR1, surprising everyone.
