This is Maya, a business-class concept unveiled by Collins Aerospace and Panasonic Avionics.
Maya aims to revolutionize the whole concept of business class.
And, based on these pictures, we’d say it looks promising.
Several airlines and aerospace companies are trying to change the paradigm when it comes to traveling from A to B on a plane.
The experience has essentially not changed for a long time.
Perhaps the biggest revolution, or evolution, we’ve seen in recent times is the rise of the low-cost business model.
However, several companies believe there are gaps on the opposite end, the high end, of the market.
That’s where business-class-only airlines such as BeOnd come into play.
And with Maya, the idea is to raise the bar for business-class travel.
The Maya business concept revolves around the massive 45-inch curved display that gives passengers the opportunity to enjoy a cinematic experience at 30,000 feet.
They’re so proud of it that they even gave it a name, they call it the Astrova Curve display.
This is a 21:9 CinemaScope display and around it, or perhaps we should in front of it, you’ve got a table and a comfy armchair.
The idea is to ‘wrap’ the environment around the passenger like a cocoon, so that passengers can forget they’re even in the air and potentially, hopefully, possibly land and feel more relaxed and rested than they felt when the plane took off.
It’s an ambitious plan.
The main issue with most ambitious plans involving flights (including flying supersonic again, for example), just because we see the concept, it doesn’t mean we’re going to see the finished product in the real world.
But hopefully, in this case, we will.
