This guy purchased a classic Ferrari 308 for just $25,000.
Now, $25,000 for a classic Ferrari sounds like a bargain but, as you can imagine, the vehicle was marred with problems.
But as it turns out, those problems weren’t unfixable.
As a result, this guy got himself a working Ferrari 308 for a bargain.

This car, in part, paid for itself
The Ferrari 308 was purchased by David Long, who runs two YouTube channels, including Car Wizard.
When YouTubers buy problematic cars to do up, they bank on the fact that even if the car can’t be restored, documenting the journey will at least get them views and subscribers.
That’s exactly what happened to Long.
He said that he gained at least 60,000 subscribers from the reveal video alone, and overall views increased by 30 percent.
He also said that revenue from the videos where he mentions the Ferrari 308 exceeded the cost of the car.
But more importantly, this Ferrari 308 was about more than just views because it was fixable.
The problem(s) with this classic Ferrari 308
David recounted the story in a video shared to the VinWiki YouTube channel.
He said that while it was true that the classic Ferrari had a lot of issues, those problems were not insurmountable.
It just took some money, and a lot of patience and time.
David said he had to replace the doors, reupholster the interior and install new seats.
As for the engine, he had to replace the carburetor and also the fuse box.
It took him two years but he got it done.
Ferrari 308s are notoriously prone to electrical problems, but those problems are usually fixable.
We’ve read similar stories about another classic Ferrari 308, which went from non-running to award-winning after the owner fixed the wiring.
When risky buys pay off big time
Buying a pre-owned car, especially if it’s a classic, is always risky.
But, sometimes, it pays off.
Not that long ago, another YouTuber bought a Mercedes R-Class with an engine problem for just $1,500.
But, as it turns out, the ‘engine problem’ was just a $170 valve.
Sometimes it takes longer, and more money, but the result is the same.
This is what happened to the YouTuber who bought Marcus Rashford’s Rolls-Royce.
It wasn’t inexpensive to buy and it definitely wasn’t cheap to fix but, at the end of the day, he essentially ended up with a Rolls-Royce, in excellent condition, for half the price.
