Jetour, a brand from China, has unveiled a new luxury SUV that can swim and float.

Several companies unveiled vehicles that can wade through shallow streams in recent years, but this is different.

Jetour went the extra mile by making it fully submersible in deep water.

The Jetour Zongheng, this is what they call it, can effectively be used as a boat.

A luxury SUV that also doubles as a boat

The Zongheng SUV is made by Jetour, which is a marque owned by Chery.

The vehicle was unveiled on January 22, but details about it are still scarce, and Jetour has only released these low-res images, which aren’t exactly worthy of a Pulitzer Prize for Photography.

Having said that, aside from the fact it can swim, we also know the SUV will be fitted with LiDAR sensors, which generally means the vehicle is autonomous.

As a cherry on top of the cake, it is going to be bulletproof and blastproof.

Chinese brands are taking engineering to the next level

Automakers from China are making giant leaps forwards.

Some of their cars are permanently sold out and, apart from that, they’re also doing some interesting work from an engineering point of view.

In the last couple of years alone, BYD has unveiled the off-roader that can dive into water and even fully submerge, and a windshield-less supercar.

Then there’s the U9, which can dance and jump.

When it was first unveiled, people assumed they built it like that just for marketing purposes.

That’s probably true, but it means it can also jump over potholes, and that is a potential game changer.

No one had ever seen anything like it before.
