After two major hurricanes hit Florida, more than 17,000 cars were ruined and eventually left in Florida auction lots.

In the face of a natural disaster, even very wealthy supercar owners are not exempt from losing their property.

You might have already seen some videos of some expensive supercars being affected by the recent floods.

Well, one visit to these auction lots is enough to really bring home the scale of this event.

Florida auction lots filled with cars ruined by hurricanes

YouTubers Ivan and Mike Niko paid a visit to these Florida auction lots to see if they could find suitable vehicles to rebuild.

Since the Niko Brothers are experts in rebuilding salvage vehicles, this was right up their alley.

They did a tour of IAA and Copart sites in Jacksonville, Orlando, Clewiston, and Largo.

Mike explains that although you can find your dream car at these auctions, it can easily turn into a nightmare if you don’t know what to look for.

Fixing a supercar with water damage is also not an easy task, especially if it is flooded like this McLaren P1.

Thousands of flood-affected cars

According to Mike, more than 17,000 salvage vehicles are sitting in these Florida auction lots.

These are just the ones that have been successfully retrieved.

So, thousands of cars might still be stuck in the affected region.

It’s not just the cars that were affected by this event, as thousands of boats damaged by the hurricanes were left to rot, too.

In one video, Mike is in awe at the selection of supercars at one of the Florida auction lots.

We can see an Audi R8, Bentley Continental, BMW 7 Series, Chevy Corvette, Ferrari F8, Lotus Evora, Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, Porsche 911, and more.

Buying a used supercar at a salvage auction can be a good deal, but don’t take the risk unless you are completely sure.

You’d want to be very careful picking up one of these cars – water can be seriously damaging after all.
