A vintage Ford Bronco was pulled from the bottom of a pond in the United States after 30 years.

As you can imagine, the car is in terrible shape.

It can probably be fixed, because nearly any car can be fixed, but it won’t be easy.

It might be worth it, though.

The story behind the Ford Bronco recovered from the pond in the United States

When the guys behind the Wrecked and Recovered YouTube channel found the Ford Bronco in this pond in the United States, they decided they wanted to do something about it.

They did some recon work in preparation and took all the necessary steps to pull it from the pond.

After recovering the vehicle, they did some research and tried to find out why, or how, the Bronco had ended there.

The police ran the VIN and discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen in 1994.

Shortly thereafter, the thief – or thieves – evidently decided to get rid of it.

These vehicles are coveted these days, and can command huge sums in the secondary market.

The problem is that a huge sum is also what’s going to be needed to fix in the first place.

When cars end up in the water

Generally speaking, with exceptions such as sQuba or the ‘WaterCar’, cars are sort of…not designed to be in the water.

Sometimes, they end up in a lake or a river after a crash, which is what happened to the Porsche 911 that YouTuber Mat Armstrong recently bought.

That’s unfortunate but perhaps not shocking as these things happen.

But what is both unfortunate and shocking is just how frequently cars are ‘buried’ underwater in the aftermath of a crime, alleged or proven.

One of the most famous and fascinating stories of an ‘underwater’ car is that of a 1925 Bugatti that spent 70 years under the waters of Lake Maggiore, a lake that Italy shares with Switzerland.

To this day, no one knows for sure why but there are two theories.

According to the first theory, a Swiss architect bought the car in Paris but didn’t want to pay import taxes on it when he returned to Switzerland.

The second theory involves a game of poker.

Legend has it that French race car driver lost the car during a game of poker but the winner didn’t have the necessary funds to to clear the car through customs.

The Swiss police then confiscated the car and the law said they had to destroy it, but they didn’t want to do that.

Instead, they decided to hide the car underwater for a spell, once again tethered to a chain, and then get it back after a while, hoping everyone else would’ve forgotten all about it by then.

Well, it seems they also forgot about it.
