Former Formula 1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone just sold his prized collection of F1 cars, nearly all of which are Ferraris, for an enormous amount of cash.
The collection spanned several decades, and included 69 models in total.
More to the point, the collection featured cars driven by true legends.
Among others, he owned cars driven by Ascari, Moss, Lauda, Senna, and, of course, Michael Schumacher.

Bernie Ecclestone has seen it all
Bernie Ecclestone is one of those people that feels as though he’s been around forever…
But that’s mostly because he has.
Ecclestone, who’s currently 94 years old, has been involved in motorsport since the late 1940s, and he ran Formula 1 for 30 years.
He who was essentially an emperor when it came to the world of racing.
He reinvented Formula 1 as we know it in 1987, rebranding it as Formula One Group, and only sold it three decades later, in 2017.

More importantly, it means he met most of the F1 world’s legends. From Ayrton Senna to Sir Stirling Moss and Michael Schumacher, you name the driver, he’s met them in person.
And it obviously means he was given the opportunity to acquire all of these cars.
Back in December 2024, we learned that Ecclestone was going to sell his entire collection. The sale, though, has only been recently finalized.
In total, the sale earned the former F1 mogul a grand total of $650 million.
The best cars in the collection
F1 cars are not always as difficult to acquire as people think.
For example, we know of a builder in the UK who owns a Benetton F1 car driven by Schumacher, and there’s a junkyard in France with dozens of abandoned F1 cars.
But Ecclestone’s collection was definitely on a different level.

The former F1 mogul owns, or perhaps we should say used to own, the Ferrari F2002 driven by Schumacher in 2002.
This F1 car won 11 GPs with Michael at the wheel, and it’s valued at around $13 million.
Then there’s Niki Lauda’s Brabham BT46B, and Alberto Ascari’s Ferrari 375 F1.
We think it’s almost a shame to split up the collection… but it’s a thrill to see them all looking so beautiful.
