Do you like futuristic-looking cars? Well, that’s what BMW has in store for you — as the company’s design director has confirmed what the next generation of BMW cars will look like.
The company had previously unveiled two Neue Klasse concept previews for its next generation of EVs.
These cars look nothing like we have ever seen but remain recognizable as a BMW with a sci-fi-esque take.
Now, it seems the Neue Klasse design language will also come to BMW’s gas-powered cars.

BMW Neue Klasse concept
Unveiled in 2023, the Vision Neue Klasse concept looks like a futuristic BMW and a sci-fi take on the brand’s signature kidney grilles.
Earlier this year, we also saw the Vision Neue Klasse X concept, an SUV inspired by the new design language.
While BMW seems to be focusing on its EV profile, it’s not forgetting its gasoline-powered cars.
“The big push with EVs, these technologies, and this design language, will transfer over the entire product portfolio, including our combustion vehicles,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, the design director for the entire BMW Group.
“For the customer, it won’t be difficult—they will all get new modern BMWs and they can choose the drivetrain,” he added.
However, both EVs and gas-powered BMW cars might feature different proportions.
Neue Klasse mass-production BMW cars
BMW also says the two Vision Neue Klasse concepts haven’t changed significantly in their transition to mass-production cars.
“You know how close the i3 and the i8 were to their concept cars, that’s what’s going to happen here,” explained van Hooydonk.
“If anything I like the production cars better because they’re a bit more compact.
“We’ve exaggerated the length and width here,” he added.
We won’t have to wait long to see these Neue Klasse-inspired BMW cars on the streets.
The first model is an SUV, which is set to replace the iX3 in 2025.
The second is a 3 Series-sized sedan expected to launch by the end of 2026.
Unfortunately, there’s no word on the gas-powered Neue Klasse car.
However, according to van Hooydonk, BMW will launch five additional Neue Klasse cars by 2028.
