A husband and wife were left stunned as they both bought a Tesla and saw what had happened with their EV electricity savings.
The partners in crime finally decided that it was time to ditch the gas cars and go green, both purchasing a Tesla car in the span of a few months.
But if you thought that this would see a massive increase in their electricity bills, then you’d be mistaken.
YouTube account Mac’s Tech Toy Box revealed that he and his wife were both aghast as they saved a monthly fortune on their commute and errands.

New Tesla owners stunned at EV electricity savings
The preconception that electric vehicles are equally as expensive as gas cars is quickly being trumped as studies on Tesla cars and other EVs show just how little it costs to charge your vehicles.
In the case of Mac and his wife, their bills were initially reduced after buying their first Tesla Model Y.
The Tesla owner claimed that pre-purchase, their average monthly electricity bills were roughly $225.
But after charging their new car 5-6 times and driving roughly 500 miles per week, their first bill was $214.
Now, this was a cooler month in general, which the Florida residents admitted was quite a stimulant on their bills, having saved on air conditioning. Nonetheless, the reduced bill left them flabbergasted.
After purchasing their second Tesla, even in the height of summer, the electricity bills sat at around $267 – just $40 more than before they made the EV change.
Other EV electricity savings have been documented to be similar, as the gas cars continue to be phased out and the anxiety of inflated running costs is debunked.
How much cheaper are EVs than gas cars?
Before switching to the Tesla EVs, the pair would spend a whopping $320 on gas, showing a small fortune’s worth of savings each month (roughly $260-$280 a month).
The owners claimed that charging at home is cost-effective rather than relying on public supercharger fees.
While the EVs might have an initially inflated cost compared to gas cars, the monthly savings could soon see that discrepancy deplete and be an investment worth making.
And, the turtles will thank you too.
Even the most loyal gas car enthusiasts have begun to express their shock at the ‘surprise’ savings in new EVs, as the car revolution appears to be snowballing quickly.
