This is a jet car powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce engines.
It produces 18,000 horsepower, and it’s built to achieve a top speed of 400 mph.
But it’s also incredibly thirsty, burning through around 40 liters of fuel per minute.
The guy that built it chose a very apt name for it, he calls it the ‘Insanity’.

A Rolls-Royce-powered jet car
The jet car is powered by two Rolls-Royce Viper 535 jet engines.
The key word is ‘jet’, because these engines are designed for planes, not cars.
We tend to forget that sometimes but Rolls-Royce manufactures jet engines for a wide list of aircraft.
Several Airbus airliners, including the A350, use Rolls-Royce engines.
These engines are massive, taller than the average human being, but they’re also reliable.
A while back, somebody managed to revive a 70-year-old Rolls-Royce jet engine.

This isn’t the first car to use a Rolls-Royce jet engine; there was another one called the Air Car, but this one is a bit more…unhinged.
One of the most extreme vehicles in the world
It’s kind of hard to tell but this car started out in life as a Ford Capri.
There’s very little left to even recognize car, and the bodywork now consists of a thin car-shaped block of plastic that’s essentially laid out on top of the chassis and engine.

This Jet Car is capable of generating up to 6G of force under acceleration.
That’s the sort of gravitational force a fighter jet can generate.
But what really defines the Insanity, apart from its speed, is its fuel consumption.
It burns through 40 liters (!) – equivalent to around 10 gallons – of fuel per minute at full chat.
