The Kia EV6 GT has made its way onto TIME’s prestigious 200 Best Inventions of 2023.
Declaring it a ‘stand-out EV’, TIME chose the GT for its unmatched innovation.

Since its launch in 2021, the EV6 has won a number of awards including being selected as European Car of the Year.
The GT model earned the prize for World Performance Car of the Year in 2023 and is now also considered one of the best inventions of 2023.
Combining cutting-edge EV technology with high-performance features and a competitive price point, it’s easy to see why this model is leading the EV revolution.
Kia has been working hard to place itself as one of the top sustainable solutions providers.
“We are leaving no stone unturned to create vehicles which deliver exceptional practicality while also inspiring customers through their ingenuity, technology, and design,” says Ho Sung Song, the CEO of KIA.
The GT model took the already impressive EV6 and made it a whole lot more powerful.
It can reach 60mph in 3.4 seconds, placing it amongst the fastest EVs out there.
The GT has a top speed of 161mph, making it quicker than a Porsche Taycan GTS.
One of the reasons this model stands out so much is its price when compared to other EVs on the market with the same power and abilities.
A model like the Porsche Taycan is $134,100 while the Kia is roughly half the price at $61,000
TIME also highlighted the car’s ‘drift mode’.
The EV6 GT comes with a number of drive modes, allowing drivers to send more power to the rear wheels.
Besides creating a fun driving experience, the torque vectoring also adds to the car’s safety.
This makes the EV6 GT both an enjoyable performance vehicle and a practical family car.
Because innovation and sustainability go hand-in-hand, this Kia’s battery is worth noting.
It has one of the fastest charge times of any EV, able to reach 80% in just 18 minutes.
For its winning combination of power, practicality and style, the EV6 GT is well worthy of so many accolades.
“This isn’t your grandma’s golf cart,” says Steve Center, the Kia chief operating officer.
“This is a screamer.”
