It has the rugged and volcanic terrain of Arctic Trucks’ Iceland home firmly in mind.

Austria-based manufacturer KRUG Expedition has also specialized in serious overland vehicles for three decades.

Their truck-based campers were designed to be off the grid long-term.

In fact, the KRUG Expedition Bedrock XT2 is one of their smaller vehicles.

Based on a Ford F-550, its platform was developed and extended to three axles by Arctic Trucks.

The result was this 8.4m (28 ft) long behemoth.

According to its creator, it’s set to be ‘the most powerful and capable travel rig that the company has ever offered’.

In fact, its 6×4 drivetrain spreads its substantial mass more evenly, making it easier to manage all types of intense terrain.

For example, there’s an optional central tire inflation system that can be operated from inside the cab.

And if you won’t be long, the living module can be taken off to off-road even harder.

However, step inside and the tables turn – elegant comfort is key.

If the weather is something you need to escape from, the cabin is highly insulated against heat and cold.

An onboard 23kW hour battery bank (topped up by the 1450 Wp solar array), allows the living experience to be completely electric.

However, power can also be topped up via its diesel-powered HVAC system.

When you need refreshments, there’s a fully equipped and high-spec kitchen inside and the option for an outdoor kitchen too.

Meanwhile, when you need to feel refreshed, a bathroom with a full shower, plenty of water storage, and purification equipment is an on-hand oasis.
