Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann says that the Italian car maker has been seeing a YOLO effect that is boosting sales.

Winkelmann is a legendary figure in the car industry, especially in the luxury/supercar circle.

With the release of the Lamborghini Temerario, Winkelmann seems to be following the recipe of success that they saw with the Revuelto before it.

Lamborghini ‘YOLO effect’

Speaking at the launch event of the Lamborghini Temerario, Winkelmann confirmed that the sales of the luxury are still going strong.

This is despite concerns about a slowdown in the US and abroad due to global tensions and high interest rates.

But it seems like Winkelmann was speaking the truth since the Lamborghini Revuelto, the automaker’s latest supercar, is sold out for 2025, if not longer.

“Since the end of the COVID, we have this ‘YOLO’ effect — you only live once — which, despite the global crisis … we have here and there in the markets, geopolitics changing, we’re still going strong, and the people still want to buy those cars, and we have a long waiting time,” he told Yahoo Finance.

Record breaking success

It seems that Lamborghini and their particular clientele can still afford to buy their latest supercars.

The sales data also supports his claim as the automaker had a record first six months in 2024.

The Italian brand is one of the few successes in the luxury automotive world.

“This year is going in a perfect way; we had another record first six months in 2024,” Winkelmann noted. “So if things are going ahead like this, the year 2024 will be a very good one for Lamborghini,” he added.

However, they are not alone in their success.

Lamborghini’s direct competitor, Ferrari has also recently revealed the newest supercar, the Ferrari 12Cilindri.

Other than the V12 supercar, Ferrari also plans to release an all-electric model in the future.
