A man traveled from Texas to Michigan to pick up a ‘his and hers’ pair of one-owner Corvettes and discovered a bonus 1949 DeSoto.

Car rescuer Dennis Collins took the trip to meet a a husband and wife who owned a 1966 and 1973 Corvette, respectively.

Neatly parked up between the pair of Corvettes was the DeSoto.

The couple revealed the cars had been parked up in ‘the same spot’ for 48 years – meaning they last took to the road around 1976.

The Corvettes were bought new

When cars are kept in storage for a long time, there are really no guarantees about what state they’ll be in once they’re cleaned.

For example, this classic 1952 Chevy sedan that was rescued from a barn in Michigan and turned out to have a completely rotten floor.

However, these cars appeared to be in incredible condition – despite their years tucked away literally gathering dust.

Taking a closer look at the Corvettes, Collins is told that they’re pretty much all original, with the owner’s friend telling him the only additions are an oil change and ‘probably’ some new fan belts.

The 1966 Corvette has the original 327 cubic-inch (5.4 liter) engine and has just 9,750 miles (15,691km) on the clock.

A quick once over of the car shows it’s in great condition – albeit a bit dirty.

The 1973 Corvette looked to be equally as well-maintained and had its original 350 cubic-inch V8 (5.7 liter). This one had done a bit more traveling with 38,726 miles (62,323km) on the odometer.

Finally, the 1949 DeSoto Club Coupe was a little different from its garage-mates.

Aside from the obvious – not being a Corvette – this car was already a couple of decades old when it was bought in 1971.

However, although it’s older, it still only had 5,929 miles (9,542km) on the clock and had the original six-cylinder L-head 236.7 cubic inch motor.

Even more surprisingly, given its age, it is in truly superb condition.

Intriguingly, the couple never revealed why they bought the trio of classic cars and then put them into storage after only a few years of use.

Life’s full of mysteries, isn’t it?
