A YouTuber bought a Mercedes-Benz R-Class, a long-forgotten Mercedes SUV for just $1,500 and managed to fix it for even less than that.
The car was so cheap because of a mysterious engine issue.
As is turns out, the engine issue was actually not a big deal.
The YouTuber was able to fix for just $170.

Why this Mercedes-Benz R-Class was so cheap
A YouTuber who goes by SamCrac purchased this R-Class for just $1,500.
That’s a very good price for a car in general, especially a Mercedes, but it gets better when we remember that this, when new, used to be a $70,000 car.
It’s the R 500 model, coming in with a 5.0-liter V8 which, when new, was capable of producing 300 horsepower.
The battery was dead, but that was not the main problem.
A more thorough inspection revealed that the EGR, the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve, was the reason why the engine wouldn’t work properly.
The YouTuber bought a new valve for just $170.
This means he now got himself a $70,000 car for just $1,670.
Not a bad deal.
This Mercedes SUV wasn’t a one-off for this YouTuber
SamCrac is clearly very good at this sort of thing.
A while back, he bought a dead Porsche Cayenne for just $700, and he fixed it for peanuts.
On another occasion, he did the same thing with an Audi RS7, which was actually worth a lot more than he’d anticipated due to a couple of secret mods that came with the car.
He also once managed to get a Tesla Model S P90D for about half the price.
In fact, the only time it didn’t go his way was when he found a dead McLaren and he couldn’t buy one.
Maybe that’s going to be his next project.
