A $3.5 million Pagani Utopia has been damaged on the day it was being delivered to its new owner.

The brand-spanking-new supercar had just left the showroom floor when it fell victim to the freak accident.

The unlikely offender? An umbrella that had slipped out of a bystander’s hands.

And the worst part? The car was yet to have its paint protection installed.

Pagani Utopia supercar met a freak accident on the delivery day

On the day he was due to receive his brand new Pagani Utopia, the new owner organized a public event to celebrate the delivery.

Despite the rainy weather, a large crowd of supercar lovers gathered to admire the stunning Utopia.

That’s when it happened – an umbrella fell and scratched the front fender of the car.

To make matters worse, the Utopia hadn’t yet been fitted with paint protection film (PPF).

And while the scratch was superficial it was most definitely visible.

Thankfully it wasn’t a major accident like what happened with Markus Rashford’s wrecked Rolls-Royce.

A video of the mishap was posted on Instagram by bayarea.motors.

The supercar looked incredible in carbon fiber bodywork finished in a striking teal green.

And despite the blemish, it still looked incredible after the umbrella fiasco.

Reactions to the freak accident

One viewer jokingly remarked, ‘If an umbrella hit hurts, wait until a rock chips’.

They have a point, but to defend the Pagani, it didn’t yet have its paint protection film on.

Another pointed out the financial sting of such damage, joking that ‘bro’s in generational debt’.

A third commented on the Utopia’s fragility, saying, ‘I wouldn’t expect a $3.5 million car to scratch so easily, and it sucks more because it’s all top-of-the-line carbon fibre’.

Fortunately, the damage appears to be minor and should be fixable with a simple polish.

Still, it’s a rough start for such an incredible machine.
