There’s no shortage of SUV coupés to choose from and it makes sense as it’s a thriving segment in 2023.
It therefore comes as no surprise that Polestar is the latest brand to join the party.

The Swedish automaker has thrown its hat in the ring with the Polestar 4.
Unveiled at the Shanghai auto show, the latest model joins the 2 and 3 in the lineup.
It promises to be the fastest Polestar on sale, too, but more on that shortly.
Pitched as a ‘new breed of SUV coupé’, there won’t be a conventionally SUV-bodied Polestar 4.
“With Polestar 4 we have taken a fundamental new approach to SUV coupé design,” said Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath.
“Rather than simply modifying an existing SUV, giving it a faster roofline and as a result, compromising elements like rear headroom and comfort, we have designed Polestar 4 from the ground up as a new breed of SUV coupé that celebrates rear occupant comfort and experience.”
It’s a big ol’ thing, measuring 4,839mm long, 2,139mm wide and 1,544mm high.
More to the point, it has a 2,999mm wheelbase, meaning there’s more than enough room in the back for the tallest of adults.
Polestar 4 design features include dual blade front light, and the hallmark Polestar light bar at the back.
What catches the eye the most, though, is the glassless rear window.
That’s right, the automaker has done away with a traditional rear window entirely.
Replacing the age-old rear view mirror is a high-definition screen, so you can still see what’s behind.
This displays a real-time feed from a roof-mounted rear camera for a broader field of vision, just like the Range Rover’s ClearSight camera.
Speaking of inside the cabin, there’s the usual sustainable materials on show, like recycled polyester and animal welfare-secured Nappa leather.
There’s plenty of tech on offer, too, including a 15.4-inch landscape infotainment screen powered by Android Automotive but with CarPlay compatibility.
That’s only slightly larger than the giant 14.7-inch head-up display.
To keep things sweet, the Polestar 4’s software will be regularly updated over the air.
The most powerful dual-motor Polestar 4 (544hp) will run a 102kWh battery for a claimed range of 350 miles (563 kilometers).
It will be the most high-performance Polestar to date, capable of 0-62mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.8 seconds.
Other variants include a 272hp, 372-mile (598 kilometers) single motor long range.
Polestar 4 price
The Polestar 4, which is tipped to rival the Tesla Model Y, will be priced from $60,000.
The new electric SUV coupé will launch in China first, before being rolled out in Europe, then the USA, and then Asia in 2024.
