A stash of rare Chevrolet cars that were stored away to keep them safe from a tornado has reemerged years later.

The collection of classic cars – dubbed the ‘Tornado Collection’ – was able to survive the devastating natural disaster that hit the owner’s property thanks to his careful pre-planning.

However, even though the twister had long since passed through, the cars remained in storage.

Until now, when they’ve recently resurfaced and are looking for new homes.

The collection includes more than a dozen Chevrolet Corvettes

Natural disasters such as tornados can do a whole lot of damage to vehicles, so some motorists will go to great lengths to protect their motors.

Take the Florida man who decided to wrap up his Corvette in plastic to keep it safe from Hurricane Milton.

Turns out his method was far more effective than many people realized.

And in a bid to keep his Chevys safe, this car collector made sure they were kept in storage and out of harm’s way.

But years on, he’s decided it’s finally time to part with the cars so is selling a total of 33 cars, including 29 Chevys, 13 of which are Corvettes with 11 being Camaros.

The haul of cars spans decades, from a 1955 Corvette Roadster with a V8 that has twice competed in the Great American Race, up to a 2013 COPO Camaro that’s one of only 69 ever made.

Also up for grabs is a first-year 1957 C1 Convertible; a 1970 Convertible ZR1, which is one of only 25 ever produced; and a sleek-looking 1971 LS6 Convertible that is thought to be around one of just 20.

There are also Camaros and non-Chevys

Elsewhere in the bumper collection, there are several Pace Car edition Camaros, from the model years 1982 and 1993, as well as a super-rare 1967 SS Pace Car with a 6.6 liter V8.

But the Chevys don’t stop there – there’s also a couple of 1959 Impalas, one of which comes with a beefy 5.7 liter Tri-Power set up under the hood.

Meanwhile, the non-Chevrolets in the collection include a Pontiac GTO from 1965 and a couple of Cadillacs.

The cars will all go up for auction through Mecum early next year – and is likely to earn the owner millions of dollars.
