Those of us who grew up in the 90s and 00s will fondly remember Razor scooters – the preferred mode of transport for kids of an entire generation.
If this speaks to you, then get ready for a dose of nostalgia, as Razor is now making a comeback – and, unsurprisingly, its new scooter has gone electric.
Dubbed the Razor Icon, this new model is bigger and bulkier, built for adults not just kids. It also features a 36-volt lithium ion battery under the deck.
The battery powers a 350-watt electric motor that drive the rear wheel, enabling the Icon to hit up to 18mph and cover around 18 miles on a full charge.
Ensuring it’s as durable as the original, larger 8.5-inch airless tyres are used in place of the smaller rollerblade-style wheels of the original Razor.
Those aren’t the only upgrades either, with a headlight, taillight, kickstand, and a lock point for securing it with a bike lock also added for adult-friendly functionality.
Of course, a range of colours is on offer to remain true to the original scooter’s aesthetic, with Throwback Orange, Red, Black, Blue, and Pink finishes available.
The Razor Icon is available on Kickstarter at an early bird price of US$549, with that rising to US$599 after the first 25 units of each colour are sold.
