Tesla Cybertruck testing is really ramping up now.
Prototypes have been spotted being put through their paces in cold weather, hot weather, driving in the city, and even off-road.
But one man’s chance encounter with a pair of release candidate (RC) vehicles is giving us the best look at the all-electric pickup truck yet.

The off-road enthusiast, who goes by MuddyRuttzz on YouTube, recently stumbled across the dusty prototypes in a California off-road park.
The RC vehicles were in Northern California testing at the Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area after traveling from Texas.
Despite describing himself as a “Jeep guy and diesel guy”, MuddyRuttz said he was super impressed by the prototypes, and immediately got his camera out.
His video shows both vehicles, equipped with 20-inch wheels and all-terrain tires, with their air suspension at its highest setting.
Although we already had a fair idea, the footage reveals just how generous the Cybertruck’s ride height is.
For a truck of its size, it’s got pretty impressive approach and departure angles.
Apparently, the Tesla engineers even demonstrated the Cybertruck’s air suspension system to him.
We don’t get to see that in the video, but he says there’s a huge difference between its lowest and highest setting.
The footage also shows one of the electric trucks climbing a hill and driving on the road.
That’s when we get a good glimpse of the rear-wheel steering system in action.
The two Cybertrucks were also accompanied by a Tesla Model X.
Equipped with a satellite communications system, the equipment was being used to send off-road data back to headquarters.
According to the YouTuber, the Tesla engineers were very friendly and answered all his questions, which is how he learned they’d driven all the way up from Texas.
More importantly, he said the Tesla employees told him deliveries of the Tesla Cybertruck should start next month.
You can watch the footage here!
If there’s any truth to that, it means initial deliveries have been delayed by a few weeks.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously stated this was meant to happen before the end of Q3 – i.e. in late September.
It’s a drop in the ocean really, considering we’ve waited four years since the unveiling of the original Tesla Cybertruck in November 2019.
