The most popular cars in each state have been revealed, making it clear that people in nearly every corner of the United States prefer a good old American pick-up truck.
Throughout the country, different states require completely different cars.
Nippy sports cars and vintage rides from California won’t quite hold up in the hot Utah springs, while a typical cold-weather truck from Minnesota might feel out of place in Rhode Island.
But each state has a favorite car, and statistics from the most sold vehicles in each US state make for interesting results.

Most popular cars in America
Throughout America, a variety of cars have proven to be extremely popular.
While the Ford F-150 has reigned supreme in America for 47 years, recent stats have proven that it has been knocked off its throne by a Japanese rival.
Pick-ups are still dominating mainland United States, whereas a variety of SUVs have taken over in the east, and the high-tech EVs have swooped in on the West Coast.
Data from Experian haa now found which cars sold best in each state, and the results are certainly interesting.
A state-by-state breakdown of the most popular cars in the United States

Ford F-150
To little surprise, the Ford F-150 is still extremely popular and dominates as the most popular car in states throughout the middle of America – in fact, a vertical line through the center of the United States would see the F-150 appear more than any other car.
The popular pick-up is clearly a beast in the terrain throughout central USA, and will only come back stronger with more Raptors and a new-and-improved 2025 model.
The Ford F-150 was a best-seller in: Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming.

Toyota RAV4
The Toyota RAV4 was the overall winner of the best-selling lists America-wide.
The Toyota RAV4 unseated the Ford F-150 and it owes a lot to the East Coast population.
With an electric injection, the Toyota RAV4 has taken the SUV industry by storm and is by far the most popular people carrier in the United States.
As the map moves towards the more built-up areas, the impressive car was only rivaled by the smaller electric sedans and the odd Chevy Silverado but came out on top.
The Toyota RAV4 came out on top in: Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia.

Tesla Model Y
It’s no shock that Tesla appeared on this list, even if a lot of the sales for the brand were split between different models.
However, out on the West Coast and in towards California, the Tesla Model Y proved to be unparalleled even by the Model 3.
This will likely only increase with the release of the 2025 Juniper version of the Model Y, which has already seen pre-orders fly in.
Tesla’s Model Y won the following states over: Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington.

Honda CR-V
One of the biggest surprises in the list of state-winning cars was the Honda CR-V, which is undoubtedly popular but wasn’t regarded as an industry leader.
Still, in the Northeast United States, the Honda CR-V is proving to be a worthy winner and a trusted and reliable road companion.
The Honda CR-V was the most popular car in Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, and South Carolina.
Chevrolet Silverado
Chevy made small margins in some states too, continuing to hold on to its foothold throughout the United States.
The Silverado won out in some of the chillier states in the US, taking home three gold medals in Alaska, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

Other most popular cars
Four states in the US decided to veer away and do their own thing.
Four different models of cars cropped up as best-sellers, mainly in southeast of the country.
The GMC Sierra was most popular in Arizona, while Tennessee bought into the name of the Nissan Rogue.
Alabama and Hawaii were both won over by Toyota, but not with the RAV4, as the Camry and Tacoma sold the most in these states, respectively.
