Some police cars need insane top speeds, others are full of technology straight out of a sci-fi movie.

Police forces around the world have started using incredibly cool vehicles, so let’s take a look at the very best.

Here are our favorite police cars from around the world:

9. Lykan Hypersport (Abu Dhabi Police)

In a city where supercars are the norm, Abu Dhabi police have decided to put a Lykan Hypersport in its police fleet.

If the name is ringing a bell, you might remember the Lykan from when it flew between skyrise buildings in Furious 7.

This is a supercar created by W Motors for the Abu Dhabi police force.

It’s got a Porsche engine tuned to a stonking 750hp.

It jets from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 2.8 seconds then on to a top speed of 394km/h (245mph).

CHECK THIS OUT!

8. Giath Smart Patrol

It has its own drone that flys out of the back, there’s a periscope in the roof like a submarine, and there are eight other cameras that can recognise faces and read number plates.

This is the Giath, the most advanced police vehicle in the world.

The Giath patrols the streets of Dubai and has some seriously impressive tech.

Inside the police officers have a 16-inch screen hooked up to all the hardware on the SUV.

W Motors is making them for Dubai Police, and there are some big plans for the next phase of crazy vehicles.

We will soon see SWAT trucks and even E-Bikes.

7. Nissan GT-R

Maybe this is why Paul Walker isn’t in Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

His character Brian loves the GT-R and knew he wouldn’t be able to out-race the cops in the same car.

NISMO set this beast up for the police in Tochigi Prefecture, and it’s used like every other patrol car.

“Bad news for the bad guys!” said the Nissan’s NISMO speed parts division.

And with a top speed of 329km/h (205mph), we’d agree.

6. BMW M5 Competition (Australian Police)

You might look at this BMW and think, so what? You’ve seen a million BMWs on the highway right?

But this is no ordinary sedan.

The dark blue BMW M5 Competition has an engine that will make your eyes water.

It has 617hp 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8.

The M5 Comp is more than good enough to catch a foolish driver on the Australian streets.

It can hit 305km/h (190 mph) and it’ll blast out 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.3 seconds.

5. Lamborghini Huracan (Italian Polizia)

This is a story that will make you think, ok this is why police should have a super-fast car.

The Italian Polizia’s Lamborghini Huracan was used to deliver a donor kidney more than 480km (300 miles) away.

The officer driving it averaged an insane 233km/h (145mph) for the urgent trip.

The Huracan can tear around the hills of Tuscany at 328km/h (204mph) and has a 0-100km/h (0-62mph) time of 97km/h.

4. BearCat X3 Border Security

This beast is the Lenco BearCat X3. It’s like a bear that’s not intimidating enough so they added another predator to the name.

This truck cruises along the US border with Mexico – where cartel drug runners are causing serious violence.

It’s armour is all steel, and it can stop a bullet in its tracks.

On the back is a massive radar that has long range thermal vision – like the Predator.

The radar can track and scan more than 300 targets.

3. Brabus CLS Rocket Police Car (Germany)

The Autobahn is wild. Germany trusts drivers with what they call de-restricted high-speed zones.

Yep, that means you can jump in a car and (safely) hit the accelerator.

So when you’ve got cars blasting around at top speed, you need a police car that can keep up.

This is a Brabus CLS Rocket and it is based on a Mercedes-Benz CLS.

But it’s been seriously tuned by the team at Brabus, who are the best in the business at this stuff.

Its V12 engine now has 730hp.

Guess what other cars have that much? How about a Pagani hypercar.

2. Spyker C8 Spyder (Netherlands)

If you thought Germany was cool, wait until you see what its neighbour drives. Police in the Netherlands province of Flevoland are cruising around in a very rare sports car.

The Spyker C8 Spyder is one of just 50 in the world.

Under the hood is an Audi-sourced 4.2-litre V8 that produces 400 hp.

This gives it a top speed of 299km/h (186mph).

1. Bugatti Veyron (Dubai)

Sure, Abu Dhabi’s Lykan Hypersport is cool.

But Dubai police have something even crazier.

The most famous police car in the world is the Bugatti Veyron in Dubai.

It’s also the fastest police car in the world.

If you can find a road that’s long enough you can hit 407 km/h (253mph). Acceleration? Well it does 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in about 2.5 seconds.

This monstrous hypercar is powered by a quad-turbocharged W16 engine with 1,000hp.

Dubai Police also have a Ferrari FF, Aston Martin One-77, BMW i8, Lamborghini Aventador, Mercedes SLS AMG, and an Audi R8 to name a few.
