Just one day after selling his business of 40 years, a man splashed out his dream Ferrari Portofino, putting the retirement pension to great use.

Few people truly get to own their dream car.

But after four decades of grafting with their own self-made business, one man has finally been able to sell up and spend his earnings on the top checkpoint of his bucket list.

The car in question? A signature Rosso Corsa red Ferrari Portofino.

UK businessman sells company and buys a Ferrari the next day

YouTube account and car dealership Warford Cars documents the sale of some high-class supercars, and in their latest episode to wrap up 2024, they followed Nick, a businessman who sold his self-made company as of 5pm the day before buying his new supercar.

The UK entrepreneur had been running his business for 40 years, describing it as his ‘baby’, but revealed the highs and lows of tumultuous workloads have led the sale of the company to be quite emotional with a mix of pride, relief, and excitement for what is next.

Exactly what was next was buying his car. Less than 24 hours after the company sale money landed in his account, Nick was signing the papers for his new Ferrari.

The urgency to get this car over the line for £105,000 (approximately $131,500) meant that the buyer didn’t even get to show his wife before turning up to the dealership, which he drove out of with the car.

“I’m about to show them what you get when you work your b****cks off for 40 years,” he said.

Fortunately, the wife was happy with the car and confessed that it was ‘very pretty.’

Why is the Portofino so loved?

The dream Portofino is the signature red with a black roof, black wheels, and yellow brake calipers. Under the hood, the Ferrari boasts an award-winning 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, galloping to an impressive top speed of 199mph thanks to the 592 horsepower.

It’s also Ferrari’s most spacious ride with a lot of leg room for drivers and passengers, even if the back seats are more suitable for ‘kids, handbags, or a small dog.’

Warford Cars did have other Ferraris for sale such as a 458 Italia and a 488 Spyder, but Nick was content with the power of the Portofino, not wanting to get behind the wheel of a bigger prancing horse.

The dealership revealed that Nick will likely be nipping back in to get a new car for his wife too, as the plentiful pension fun looks to be setting up Christmas 2024 quite well.

As far as dream cars go, this Portofino might be quite a popular choice, although one man spent almost the same amount on a vehicle that you would least expect.
