A Texan company has made history by becoming the first commercial vehicle to land on the moon, and it’s not NASA.
The vessel, named Blue Ghost, left Earth over a month ago on January 15 2025.
It’s now got one goal – to explore the Sea of Crises that you can actually from Earth.
But just what happens now it’s reached it’s historic destination?

The moon is the hot talk of the town right now.
From the strange music heard by astronauts not being released to the public for over 50 years, to China unveiling its next-gen lunar spacesuits, it’s everywhere.
But just wait until you hear about the very latest landing on our space companion.
The news came after NASA launched a project to land humans on the Moon for the first time in 54 years.
Firefly Aerospace, founded in Texas, has earned its space in history – get it? – by sending a craft into space.
The company’s robotic vessel has successfully landed on the moon after leaving Earth on January 15.
What does the lander look like?
The vessel, named Blue Ghost, has four landing legs that can hold 155kg of payload weight.
It’s also a bright copper colour – proving you literally cannot miss it.
What is the purpose of the mission on moon?
The whole reason Blue Ghost was launched into the galaxy is to explore the finer details of the way heat flows from the Moon’s interior.
But now it’s arrived safely, the lander set to explore the Sea of Crises – which is incredibly exciting.
Partly because you can even see the Sea of Crises with your own eyes – so maybe if you strain and squint you’ll see a hint of copper in there too?

Plus, the lander will also take impressive X-ray images of magnetic fields that surround our planet – pretty cool, right?
And it’s all thanks to NASA’s CLPS – or Commercial Lunar Payload Service – which brings commercial craft to the lunar surface.
Now that Blue Ghost is on the Moon, we’re patiently awaiting all the exciting information it’ll send to Earth.
So strap in as Firefly puts Texas on the map…. and writes its name in the stars.
