In a media interview that took place right after the premiere of Fast X in Rome, Vin Diesel accidentally leaked that the movie is actually part one of a trilogy.
And now he’s gone even further, confirming more spin-off movies are coming, including one with a female protagonist.

As the Fast and Furious franchise progressed and got bigger, Universal decided to change a few things around.
They moved on from the street racing theme to turn Fast and Furious into an action heist franchise with Fast Five (2011), where they also introduced Luke Hobbs, played by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
After three successful movies, reports about a potential ‘beef’ between Vin Diesel and Johnson surfaced, which is why his character Luke Hobbs disappeared from the franchise after Furious 7.
Except of course Universal knew they’d struck gold with Hobbs so, in order to give this character something to do, they created a new spin-off.
Titled ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw’, the 2019 film stars Johnson as Hobbs and Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw.
Deckard Shaw, just like Hobbs, was introduced in a Fast saga film (Furious 7) as a baddie, before turning into an ally in subsequent movies.
Hobbs & Shaw received positive reviews and, more importantly, it made Universal a ton of money grossing over $760 million against a $200 million budget.
Love it, hate it, the Fast saga is a gold mine, hence why Universal Pictures and Vin Diesel are keen to make a female-led spin-off as well.
It’s fair to assume any and every female character from the franchise may make an appearance in the upcoming woman-led Fast and Furious spin-off but what about the protagonist?
We’re going to go out on a limb and say it’s unlikely to be Mia Toretto.
Portrayed by Jordana Brewster, Mia is Dom’s brother and Brian O’Conner’s wife, but her role in the franchise changed and became less ‘actiony’ after Paul Walker, who played O’Conner, died in 2013.
This leaves us with Cipher (Charlize Theron), Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez), Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Gal Gadot (Gisele Yashar).
Mind you, Cipher is an antagonist and Rodriguez, who plays Letty, isn’t too keen on spin-offs.
In a recent interview, Rodriguez said “[if] you pass the baton on, you take the back seat”.
As for Ramsey, fans love her but it would be up to Universal to decide whether that’s enough to dedicate a whole movie to this character.
Gisele seems to be the best fit.
She first appeared in fourth film in 2009 and reprised her role in three more films, including a cameo in Fast X.
The character is badass and loved by fans, and Gadot certainly has what it takes to star in her own movie as the titular character.
After all, she also played Wonder Woman.
Speaking to Variety, Diesel said we may have to wait for the main series to wrap before we get the chance to watch the spin-off films.
“I started developing the female spiff in 2017 with other spinoffs,” Diesel said.
“The sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the spinoffs.”
