Yohan Poonawalla is a well-known car enthusiast, and recently, his iconic Rolls-Royce 17EX was in the spotlight for winning the ‘Best of Show’ award at a Concours d’Elegance event for the second year running.

It’s part of ‘ICONS Mobility Week for Good’ that was recently held in Spain.

The prestigious event is famous for revealing some of the most iconic and special cars from around the world, and once again, Poonawalla’s vehicle stood out among the rest.

Alongside the prestigious ‘Best of Show’ award, the Rolls-Royce 17EX has also bagged ‘Best in Class’ in the Rolls-Royce 120 Years category, as well as ‘Best of Show’ (Prewar) and several other accolades in various categories.

Yohan Poonawalla wins ‘Best of Show’ award for his Rolls-Royce 17EX

While today, the Rolls-Royce 17EX is hailed for its rich history and rarity, back in its time, the car was known for its performance, featuring a powerful inline-six engine.

Talking about its rarity, the car was a part of the limited production run, adding to its value.

“I am delighted to see 17EX win the top prize today,” Poonawala commented on the win.

“It came as a pleasant surprise as there were also some other cars in the Concours which were outstanding in design and condition, but I am happy the jury chose 17EX to bestow the Best of Show award.” He added further.

Poonawalla’s passion for cars led to an extensive restoration – bringing back its shine from the 1920s.

From rebuilding the engine to restoring the interior, adding leather seats, and recreating the wooden accents, Rolls-Royce’s standard of quality was met before he added this beauty to his collection.

A proud moment as a car enthusiast

No wonder restoring and maintaining classic cars like the Rolls-Royce 17EX incurs a huge cost, but for someone like Yohan Poonawalla – who is passionate about cars and incredibly wealthy – this is what luxury truly stands for.

Moreover, this isn’t the first time Poonawalla has shown his love for rare collectibles; he previously purchased Queen Elizabeth’s Range Rover, which was also used by the Obamas.

Yohan proudly celebrated the win with his wife, posing with the car and the trophies while receiving congratulations from people online.

It was surely a proud moment for him as a car enthusiast.
