A rare 1961 Chrysler 300G has recently appeared on eBay and it’s definitely one for collectors to take a look at.
If you’re a car enthusiast, you know that the Chrysler 300G is part of the legendary ‘letter series,’ a collection of high-performance cars manufacturer between 1955 and 1965.
So, what makes this special 1961 model more special?
Well, it’s not just the car, but what’s hidden beneath the rust and neglect left after sitting idle for 40 years.

1961 Chrysler 300G on eBay
The rare car posted on eBay by r1man was parked and forgotten in a barn, collecting dust and dirt instead of attention.
The 1961 Chrysler 300G still wore its original red paint, and showed signs of wear and tear, with more than just surface rust on its body.
It would be fair to say that it looked pretty messed up.
Then there’s the interior, which was even more messed up.
The seats were rotten, and the dashboard was nearly unrecognizable – nothing in the car was as it should be.
If the buyer had found a family of mice living in the car, that wouldn’t have come as a surprise.
A rare surprise under the hood
The Chrysler 300G looked completely unrestorable and seemed a bad purchase, but then the surprise under the hood was revealed.
The classic gem still had the original 413-cubic-inch V8 engine, which was once capable of 375-400 horsepower.
That makes this classic a potential goldmine for restoration.
Plus, the car was originally fitted with a rare three-speed manual transmission, a feature that only a handful of the 1961 Chrysler 300Gs came with.
As with most things on eBay, you never quite know what you’re going to get.
Some listings are like a bag full of surprises – like this Chrysler, and other times it’s something you’ll regret buying, much like the Pontiac GTO.
After a complete restoration, the car could be sold for a fortune – all thanks to its rare engine.
