This is the new 2024 Mazda CX-90, a super sleek and stylish SUV with a powerful straight-six engine.
The market is awash with bland SUVs these days and that’s why we think the Japanese manufacturer knocked it right out the park with this one.

Even though this technically qualifies as an SUV, the elongated rear section makes it look like a combination between a fastback and a shooting brake.
At the front, you’ll find Mazda’s signature trapezoidal grille, integrating both the logo and the headlamps.

The rear section looks a bit more SUV-esque, chiefly due to the shape of the vertical trunk lid.
However, you do get a nice rear lip spoiler, which never hurts.
The Mazda CX-90 is available as a plug-in hybrid or a mild hybrid.
The base-model is equipped with a 2.5-liter inline-four and a 17.8-kWh battery pack.
It delivers 323 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, which is pretty impressive.
Alternatively, you can go for the 3.3-liter turbocharged inline-six, and this one puts out 340 hp.
Now, the difference in terms of power output may look negligible but the larger cubic capacity and two extra cylinder will certainly make this engine a lot more ‘meaty’.
With both engines, power is sent to all four wheels.
Mazda CX-90 interior
The cabin has a clean, tidy, and minimalistic look.
You’ve got a digital instrument cluster right in front of you and a horizontal 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment.
There are a few physical buttons and dial located on the center console and the dashboard, below the aforementioned screen.
For the upholstery, you can opt for fabric or leather, and you also get something called ‘Kumihimo stitching’.
It’s an old Japanese tradition and Mazda used it to create a unique, distinctive thread.
Mazda CX-90 pricing and availability
The automaker is planning to deliver the first units in the spring of 2023.
Pricing is yet to be revealed but the SUV will be slotted and marketed right above the CX-70, which has an MSRP of $33,000.
With that in mind, the CX-90 will most likely start at around $50,000.
