A group of adventurers bought a 39-year-old Toyota Tercel and tried to drive it 2400 miles from Salt Lake City to McAllen, Texas without a trailer.

Their journey was packed with off-road trails, and while it was picturesque, it made for quite a challenging road trip.

The drive from Salt Lake City was 2400 miles (3862km) long, and with broken AC, it felt even longer.

The boys were committed to making it happen, but there were some hiccups along the way.

Driving 2400 miles in a 39-year-old Toyota Tercel

The 1985 Toyota Tercel is known for its toughness and simplicity.

These old Toyotas, especially from the 80s and 90s, are famous for being reliable and nearly indestructible.

The Tercel was in great shape, with a mint interior, though the driver’s seat had a small rip.

But the group was confident the Tercel could handle the journey, despite some worn-out shocks.

The Tercel’s four-wheel drive and five-speed manual transmission also lent itself to the off-road adventure.

However, the vehicle had a few hiccups on the way. The tires went flat and it lost a mud flap mid-journey.

The car wasn’t fast either, struggling to reach 65 mph, and it had no air conditioning, which made the heat tough to bear.

Toyota reached its destination despite the challenges

But despite the struggles, Tercel never gave up. In fact, it was a journey the guys would never forget.

Along the way, they added funky stickers to give the car more character.

They stopped at the Land Cruiser Museum in Salt Lake City, and stumbled upon the Valley of the Gods, a place with stunning rock formations.

One of the highlights was camping near the Grand Canyon, where the views were breathtaking.

In the end, the journey ended on a high note, proving that even a 39-year-old car can go the distance, especially a well-built one like this.
