Less than a week after Apple launched its iPhone 15 and 15 Pro Max, the tech giant is facing a whole new wave of complaints.

When the latest iPhone was released on Friday, it took buyers less than a day to start noticing some glaringly obvious issues, including that the color of the phone appeared to be melting off in their hands.

Now, buyers are taking to X / Twitter with new, arguably bigger concerns.

Buyers are now reporting that the handset is overheating to the point that it becomes too hot to even hold.

“I knew I wasn’t tripping. Immediately noticed as soon as I turned it on. ‘Hot core’ just keeps getting hotter,” one said.

Tech reviewer Rjey agreed, saying “the iPhone 15 Pro Max gets so hot sometimes that if you’re using it caseless you can’t even hold it”.

Another buyer took to X to share the results of his temperature testing, which showed the iPhone 15 Pro heating up to a balmy 48 degrees.

And then there was this pretty damaging review.

“I wanted to offer my thanks to Tim Cook for my iPhone 15 Pro Max overheating to the point where it’s uncomfortable to hold whilst simply watching a YouTube video,” he said.

“[My] phone is now being returned for a refund and I’m sure I won’t be alone in doing this.”

Not only is the overheating a problem in itself, but it’s also apparently causing the battery to drain faster too.

While Twitter appears to be exploding with complaints, some are defending the tech giant’s latest release.

“If you think the iPhone 15 Pro Max overheats severely, you haven’t experienced the heat from the Xiaomi 13 Pro or Google Pixel 7 Pro,” Vaibhav Jain said.

“The iPhone 15 Pro Max does heat up, but so does every single flagship smartphone when using the camera or performing heavy tasks.”

This user also shared a video showing him comparing the temperatures of the different phones while using the camera.

And while Apple recorded the lowest temperature at 43 degrees, we don’t know what the creator was using the devices for before filming.

So, if you’re considering upgrading to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, probably a good idea to invest in a good-quality case too.
