While submarines have had a bad rap over the past year or so, this new bubble submarine is set to give underwater explorers a whole new and first-class POV.
Passengers who are bored of the luxury life on the waves during their first-class cruise can now take themselves off beneath the waves in spacious comfort.
Florida’s Triton Submarines delivered its first Triton 660/9 AVA to a cruise company, Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours.

This will allow them to take passengers into the depths in style between brunchtime and bridge.
Triton’s subs take the unique form of a stretched bubble shape.
This allows more space to relax as its passengers take in the panoramic views of the ocean floor.
In similar underwater luxury, the world’s first and most expensive underwater hotel is mind-blowing.
Plus this is the world’s most luxurious submarine, which is actually a lavish hotel on the seabed.
It can carry a total of nine people – eight passengers and a pilot.
It features sumptuous leather seating with the option to have a cocktail bar, dining room – or even a spa clinic.
However, if the sight of water makes you need to ‘go’, you’d better do it before you hop aboard – as there are no toilet facilities aboard.
The shape of that pressure hull is made possible by what Triton calls its Advanced Versatile Acrylics (AVA) methodology and is certified to dive to 660 ft (200 m).
The Triton 660/9 AVA was designed to offer adventurers onboard an ‘experience’ directly from their cruise ship or luxury resort.
On a different note beneath the waves, China is developing high-speed submarines propelled by lasers.
The first bubble submarine, the Scenic Neptune II, is now onboard the Scenic Eclipse II cruise ship in Australia.
It will be taking seafaring tourists on sea-floor expeditions for the next two years in the surrounding waters, as well as Indonesia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, and East Antarctica.
“The clarity of the acrylic hull once submerged is such that you feel at one with the water,” Jason Flesher, Scenic Director of Discovery Operations, said.
“Encountering the vibrant marine life of the South Pacific and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef within Scenic Neptune II will create memories to last a lifetime.”
