Millionaire takes his Bugatti Chiron to outrageous speeds on Germany’s Autobahn

A Bugatti Chiron owner in Germany decided to test his car’s top speed on an unrestricted section of the Autobahn.

While he did achieve a top speed in excess of 400 km/h, a couple of things about his video are worth noting.

That’s because – as ever – a lot of controversy followed.

The German Autobahn, everyone knows this at this point, is just about the only place in the world where you can legally travel as fast as your car can go outside of a racetrack.

Around 60 percent of the Autobahn is unrestricted, meaning there are no speed limits, just an ‘advisory’ speed limit of 130 km/h – or 80 mph.

The Bugatti Chiron takes mere seconds to reach 130 km/h, and it won’t stop until it reaches its theoretical top speed which, depending on the model, ranges from 250 mph to 300 mph.

The 300+ model, as the name suggests, can reach 304 mph – or 490 km/h.

Amazingly, there are many cars that are just as fast, that’s the case with the Koenigsegg One:1, or even faster, such as the track-only Bugatti Bolide.

The point is, people do this all the time on the Autobahn and they get the same reaction every time.

When they choose to share the video on Instagram or YouTube YouTube, reactions in the comment section are always mixed, and it always becomes like an argument between two camps.

You’ve got those saying this is perfectly legal, and therefore there should be no discussion about this to begin with, and then others claiming this may be legal, but still unsafe.

It’s like going back and forth, especially considering the authorities regularly issue strong statements whenever this happens.

And it happens all the time.

In fact, the ‘almost’ record you see here, set by Omid Mouazzen, is actually Omid’s answer to another Bugatti Chiron owner’s effort.

Back in 2021, Radim Passer, a Czech billionaire, achieved 259 mph – 416 km/h on the Autobahn.

Omid ‘only’ reached a top speed of 257 mph – or 413 km/h.

It feels like it’s just a matter of time, and sooner or later, the German autobahn will no longer be unrestricted.
