BYD, a company known for their EVs and innovative battery technology in China has announced a brand new platform that can recharge EVs in the same time it takes filling up a gas car.
The timing couldn’t be more perfect for the company, and if Tesla isn’t careful, BYD could be coming for their EV superiority crown.
We have little in the way of information regarding the Chinese company’s new EV charging platform, but allegedly it’ll be able to provide almost 300 miles worth of driving range in just five minutes.
The new ‘Super e-Platform’ will be rolled out with the company’s next generation of EVs, particularly the Han L sedan and Tang L SUV.

Are EVs more advanced in China?
China has been getting a lot of interesting innovation when it comes to EVs.
Tesla recently announced that their new, honest version of Full Self-Driving was coming to the country and preliminary testing is looking good.
However, Chinese developers BYD have announced that they’re truly changing the game when it comes to EV charging.
BYD have embodied their slogan of ‘build your dreams’ by developing a brand new EV charging platform which can recharge EVs in the same time it takes filling up a gas car.
They’re keeping a lot of details under wraps. But the main information that we know is that the new charging system can generate 300 miles of driving range in just five minutes.
China’s electric future
Not only will they be rolling out their new 1000 volt Super e-Platform with their new generation of EVs, the Tang L SUV and the Han L Sedan, they’ll also be building more than 4,000 of these super-speedy chargers across China.
BYD is keeping the details regarding the type of battery and the battery chemistry they’ve used to create this super-fast charger to itself. But it’s clear that China is preparing hard for an all-electric future.
If they’re not careful, manufacturers in the US and Europe could be outpaced in terms of innovation if they stop looking into new ways to make life easier for EV drivers.
