A car dealer sold this slick-looking Rolls-Royce for $32,000 – but it wasn’t quite smooth sailing.

The process seemed to be going fairly okay until the buyer decided to have it inspected by a specialist.

Issues came to light and money was asked to be knocked off – which was less than ideal.

But what was actually so wrong with the luxury motor?

Rolls-Royce cars come with exquisite luxury as standard

When you think of luxury cars, you think of grand exteriors, luxury materials, and flashy features that showcase the exclusivity of the brand.

From their embossed starlight headliners to the striking appearance of their cars, Rolls-Royce certainly has many perks that discerning petrolheads are keen to snap up.

They even have celebrity fans like Kendall Jenner – who was gifted one for her 21st Birthday but forgot all about the $400,000 powerhouse the next morning.

What’s more, Michael Jackson’s most luxurious car was a Rolls Royce Silver Seraph plated with pure gold.

With celeb fans and impressive features it is no secret that the cars are in high demand.

It was all going so well… until it really wasn’t

Enter this seller who thought that the sale of this classic and quintessentially British car wouldn’t be all that much hassle.

Boy, was he wrong.

You see, the whole process was going quite well with no hiccups until the prospective buyer had it inspected.

Before handing it over, the car was inspected

The only issue deemed an actionable problem when it came to passing was a washer fluid motor.

In fact, the seller himself even noted that it was ‘nothing outrageous’.

But enter Gary, the buyer.

He asked for the help of a specialist to check it out before handing over his money, and rightly so.

However, what came next was unexpected.

The Rolls-Royce needed $7,000 of repairs

After thorough checks had been carried out on the Rolls-Royce, over $7,000 of repairs came back to get it up to a ‘basic standard’.

Yep – you read that right – $7,000.

Issues including a starter motor, overaged tires, brake pipe ‘cracking’, and even leaks came to life after pre-test checks had raised nothing particularly alarming.

Even though the dealer was interested to see what came back – we’d bet he was not expecting to see this.

The buyer asked for the price to be reduced by £2,000 ($2500).

After some back and forth, £1,000 (£1,200) was agreed to be taken off by both the dealer and the buyer – so it wasn’t a totally catastrophic turn of events.

Both agreed that some repairs were optional.

Watch below as the dealer ran through the events and discussed some of the issues with selling classic cars.

Maybe auction is a better option next time?
