We’ve all heard cars described as a ‘dog’ before, but this Honda CR-V listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace takes the biscuit.
Even by the standards of gaudy custom cars, this one is ruff.
It’s hairy, it’s got a cartoon dog on the bonnet, it’s got quite a few miles on the clock, and – well – there’s a lot going on in general.
It’s a domesticated beast, and it could be yours, if you dare.

Let’s get the specifications out of the way first, before we get to the ridiculous additions.
It’s a 2009 Honda CR-V listed in the UK city of Bradford.
As far as similar cars of this make go, it’s priced pretty reasonably at £1,250.
That’s before we get to the customized features, though.
The car is a diesel with a manual transmission, has 140,000km on the clock, and is listed as having a silver exterior – it doesn’t – and a black interior.
So far, pretty normal.
The hair of the dog
Let’s get right to it, shall we?
The entire outside of this vehicle is covered in brown fur.
Anyone who has ever been to the North of England will be able to tell you, it rains quite a lot.
Like, all the time.
So, having a car that is covered in anything made of fabric – assuming it isn’t real hair – is a pretty big no-no.
In addition to the hairy exterior, the car has a large embossed cartoon dog on the front.
Spike from Tom & Jerry – in case you are interested.
If you were being generous, you could describe this car as ‘unique’ or ‘one-of-a-kind’.
On the listing, the seller has gone with ‘eye-catcher’ and ‘head turner’.
One thing is for sure, that’s not false advertising.
OK, it’s not quite as bizarre as this Toyota that can feel emotions and has a wagging tail, or this flame-throwing robot dog, but it’s not far off.
This Honda CR-V is ruff around the edges
However, there is quite a sweet story behind this loveable mutt.
The seller explains that the car was actually bought at an auction from a charity called ‘BANGERS4BEN’ after it was ‘driven around Europe to raise money for charity’.
The listing adds: “Someone has spent a good amount of money [and] time making it to be based on Spike from Tom & Jerry.”
At least it was all for a good cause, right?
Ben is a charity that supports people working in the automotive industry, helping them ‘to navigate life’s challenges, helping them make positive, lasting changes to their lives,’ according to the charity website.
So, it turns out that this mongrel might actually have a bit of pedigree, making it a perfect purchase for the right enthusiast.
Finding this dog a forever home
The listing goes on to state that the Honda CR-V ‘runs and drives very well’ and is ‘cheap to run and maintain’.
It also has a valid MOT, so it can be driven on UK roads legally until February 2025.
Sure, it’s not for everyone, and it would definitely make your neighbours think you were going through some sort of crisis, but can we honestly say that this ‘dog’ doesn’t deserve a loving home?
