A Florida woman managed to hit 500,000 miles in her used 1999 Toyota Camry – calling it a ‘good, durable car’ that was built to last.
Well, we can’t argue with that.
Edna Weber, from Largo, bought the second-hand vehicle in 2002.
And, after driving the car for two decades, she hit the impressive milestone of half a million miles.

The Florida grandma said she had a ‘lot of confidence’ in the Camry
Every once in a while, we come across an ordinary-looking car that has racked up an extraordinary amount of miles – such as this 1990 Honda Accord with a million on the clock, or this 1991 Volvo, which also hit the one million mark.
Hot on the heels of those high numbers is this 1999 Toyota Camry that passed half a million miles back in 2022.
And its owner Edna Webber was quick to heap praise on the ever-so reliable Camry at the time.
“I was looking for a good, durable car, something that was going to last,” she told ABC Action News.
“I love it, it knows me and I know it.”
Even after racking up so many miles on the clock, Weber still had a lot of faith in the Camry’s reliability.
“I have so much confidence in this car,” she added.
She offered some advice on boosting a car’s longevity
Incredibly, despite having 500,000 miles on the odometer, Weber said at the time that the old Camry ran as smoothly as the day she bought it.
Weber snapped up the vehicle in 2002 for just $14,000 in Franklin Tennessee.
And she spent the next two decades putting some serious miles on it.
“Everywhere we went we drove, if we went on vacation we drove,” she said.
The grandma even shared some top tips on improving a car’s longevity.
“It’s really paying attention to it, anytime something doesn’t sound right or feel right, I always take it down to the mechanic and explain what’s going on,” she added.
Sound advice – here’s to the next 500,000 miles and maybe a little gift from Toyota.
