If you live in an area where roads are prone to flooding, you might want to get yourself a Rivian R1T that can act as a boat.

You won’t have to worry about the warranty either, as it will remain valid as long – provided you don’t go too deep.

One R1T owner even tested the battery-powered pickup truck in a bizarre stunt.

Rivian R1T or a boat

Although the Rivian R1T EV isn’t exactly cheap, it is quite a heavy-duty vehicle, that can even tow a semi.

So, if you want to make your friends jealous, an off-road pickup truck is a great choice.

Additionally, the truck has a maximum water-fording height of 43.1 in (109 cm).

More than a meter, which is pretty incredible when you think about it.

Even the battery housing of the pickup truck is watertight despite having gear tunnels that open on both sides.

In the video above, you can see a courageous owner testing the EV’s waterproofing capabilities.

Don’t worry though, as this stunt didn’t manage to void the warranty of the truck.

However, you might not want to follow in his footsteps only to get stuck in a ditch, like this unlucky soul.

The Tesla Cybertruck, which is the R1T’s main competitor, is supposed to be able to do the same.

Another courageous soul even went as far as to test Tesla’s claim by using the vehicle’s ‘Wade Mode’ and taking it into deeper waters.

But before you try it on your own, be aware that Tesla clearly states that ‘damage to the vehicle while off-roading’ is not covered under warranty.

R1T Gen 2 on its way

The latest Gen 2 version of the Rivian R1T is also on its way.

The biggest upgrade is that Rivian claims the EV pickup truck can get up to 410 miles of range in Conserve mode.

Although we will have to wait till 2025 to see it on the roads.
