This 1963 Mercury Monterey is going for sale on eBay and it offers a feature that many people have forgotten about.
Sitting rusting in a yard in the town of Spokane, Washington, this car is a true blast from the past.
Not only is the exterior showing its age, but the interior looks as if it’s been put through the ringer a few times too.
According to its seller, the V8 engine used to run before it was parked but that may well be a thing of the past today.

Is this Monterey a project worth undertaking?
The car is intact and has a lot of potential for a restoration project.
As it currently stands, the Monterey comes with a 390ci engine that produces 250hp, but it can be switched out for more powerful alternatives.
The same engine can come with 300HP and 330HP upgrades, and even a 427ci with 410HP.
But what truly sets this car apart is its air conditioning.
That might sound bizarre at first, because how often does a car’s most interesting feature come down to its AC?
Hear us out: let’s just say this car has an alternative to your standard air conditioning system.
Back when it was released, this was one of the cheaper cars coming from Mercury.
Adding a full AC system would have made it much pricier.
So as a compromise, Mercury installed Breezeway, which is a retractable air window at the back of the vehicle.
It’s still there, but the car will need to be whipped into shape before anybody can enjoy it.
Cars in a worse state have gone through amazing transformations – just take a look at this abandoned Audi R8.
How much is this car going for?
Currently, seven bids have been placed on this Monterey, with the highest currently being $11.50.
The seller wrote: “Please save Justine. Whether as a Stephen King-style project, or as a parts car for a Monterey or Ford Galaxy, this she-beast won’t disappoint.”
He did concede that there is some damage to the passenger door and that it doesn’t run as it currently is.
There’s also a joke admission that there’s ‘no guarantee the car is not possessed’.
If that’s the case, you might not have to do any work to make this a Stephen King project – Justine could become Christine very quickly.
There are some gems on eBay – even the Shah of Iran’s car ended up on the site at one point.
