The Sacramento County Sheriff has made a statement after one of the force’s Dodge Charger patrol cars was reportedly spotted in a random city in Poland.
Dodge Charger patrol cars certainly beat the largely commissioned Kia Ceed that the Polish police use.
They are even arguably better than the BMW 3 Series that came into use for some of the country’s forces.
But the Dodge Charger patrol car is native to the US and Sacramento, so why is there one in Poland?

While they are not quite the Irvine Police Cybertruck, Sacramento’s Dodge Charger is pretty iconic.
Videos have emerged on social media that show the black and white Sherrif’s Office patrol car being driven along the streets of Gniezno, Poland.
The charger appeared to be legitimate at first glance, although it has had its California plates swapped out for different ones.
The news made headlines on CBS News where they showcased TikTok videos of the Dodge Chargers driving around, replicating actual police cars.
However, it turns out that these are not official or illegal.
Sacramento Sherriff responds
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff, this isn’t a new phenomenon, and the popular Dodge Charger police car is widely adopted across Europe as a collectible.
Speaking to CBS News, Sergeant Amar Gandhi claimed that they knew about these replicas years ago.
“We first caught wind of this, I mean, years back and it turns out to be several hobbyists in Europe that like to collect American cars and repaint them, refinish them with police and law enforcement style finishes on there,” he said.
“Luckily, we’ve become pretty popular in a few countries.”
It seems that anyone who has an active driver’s license and can own a car can also customize their vehicle with police decal stickers, as long as there is no imitation of pulling people over or any use of sirens.
The Dodge Charger is now not used by anyone in Sacramento County, having been phased out primarily for newer Ford sedans and a handful of Jeeps.
Still, they were pretty awesome.
It wouldn’t be the first time that a police car was popularised as a collectible, as vintage American Crown Victoria cars prove equally cool to own.
